Community Guidelines
Last updated: 2026-04-19
iTribe is a global community built on respect, shared heritage, and the pursuit of belonging. These Community Guidelines set the standard of conduct expected of every user. They apply to posts, comments, stories, messages, campaigns, profiles, tribe pages, and every other interaction on the Platform.
Our values
- Respect. Speak to one another as you'd want to be spoken to. Disagreement is welcome; contempt is not.
- Truth. Share what you know; cite your sources; correct yourself when you're wrong.
- Consent. Don't share others' private information, images, or stories without permission.
- Safety. If someone is in danger, tell a leader or contact emergency services.
What's not allowed
- Harassment, bullying, or hate speech directed at any individual or group, including on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
- Incitement of violence or glorification of violent acts.
- Sexual content involving minors, any exploitation of children, or content that sexualizes minors in any way. This will be reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
- Non-consensual intimate imagery ("revenge porn") or any pornographic content.
- Doxxing — publishing someone's private information (address, phone, workplace, immigration status, etc.) without consent.
- Threats, stalking, or intimidation.
- Fraud, scams, or deceptive fundraising. Campaigns must be for legitimate purposes and honestly represented.
- Spam, unsolicited advertising, or manipulation of reactions, follows, or comments.
- Impersonation of another person, organization, or iTribe staff.
- Illegal content or activity — including but not limited to the sale of controlled substances, weapons, stolen goods, or trafficking of any kind.
- Malware, phishing, or circumvention of Platform security.
- Copyright / trademark infringement — see our DMCA Policy.
- Private medical, legal, or financial advice presented as professional when it isn't.
Graphic content & sensitive topics
Some posts may discuss war, conflict, illness, grief, or other difficult topics. We don't remove them by default, but we may add content warnings or limit distribution. If you are posting graphic imagery for documentary or educational purposes, please mark it clearly and consider whether it's necessary.
Elections, public-health, and crisis information
We don't prohibit political speech, but we do prohibit deliberate, verifiable misinformation that could cause real-world harm (voter suppression, dangerous medical claims, etc.). When credible authorities contradict a claim, we may add context or reduce distribution.
Reporting a violation
Every post, profile, and message has a Report option. Reports go to our moderation team and to the leaders of the relevant tribe. We review reports in order received; serious reports (safety, minors, imminent harm) are prioritized.
Enforcement
Depending on severity and context, we may: add a content warning, limit distribution, remove the content, temporarily suspend the account, or permanently terminate the account. We keep a record of enforcement actions and may preserve evidence if law enforcement requests it.
Appeals
If your content or account was actioned and you believe it was in error, you may appeal by emailing tech@itribe.us. Include your username and a link to the specific content in question.
Leaders & moderators
Tribe leaders share responsibility for maintaining a healthy community within their tribe. Leaders who ignore or enable repeated violations may lose their leadership status via the Leader Removal process.
Evolving guidelines
These guidelines will evolve as our community grows. We may update them at any time; material changes will be announced in-app and by email.
